Watermelon Crimson Sweet
(Citrullus lanatus)
We have chosen this variety especially to encourage children into the garden. They could grow their very own Water Melon. This variety can produce large fruits with bright red sweet flesh.
Indoor Planting:
Sow seeds 1.5cm deep in pots of moist compost, be careful not to over-water. Store in a warm place at an approx. tempreture of 20 degrees C (75 degrees F). Reduce to a gentle heat once germination starts.
Growing On:
When the seedlings are strong enough to handle and they have 2 true leaves, plant out under glass either in grow bags or direct into beds. Do not overcrowd the plants and keep in a warm light position. Provide support for the melons.
