GARDEN PARTY

If you're planning a garden party for this weekend's jubilee celebrations, here are some tips to create a visual feast of flowers:

Fill the table with jam jars of flowers. Think poppies, roses and lilies. Any cheery red, white and blue florals, or regal purple blooms.

Break out the good china for an authentic cuppa with biscuits.

Do enjoy a coronation chicken sandwich, followed by a slab of Victoria sponge and a glass of Pimms. 

You might like to go with the official Platinum Jubilee Pudding: a lemon and Swiss roll amaretti trifle.

If you haven't already gone all out with a bunting of flying Union Jacks, pull together any table linens, runners, napkins and place mats that will work with a red, white and blue colour scheme. Bring it all together with dinner candles along the length of your table.

PLANT A TREE FOR THE JUBILEE

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.

Everyone from individuals to Scout and Girl-guiding groups, villages, cities, counties, schools and corporates will be encouraged to play their part to enhance our environment by planting trees during the official planting season between October to March. Tree planting will commence again in October 2022, through to the end of the Jubilee year.

BEYOND THE GARDEN

There are plenty of other ways you can get involved in the 2022 celebrations, including street parties, The Big Jubilee Lunch (5th June), Beacon lighting (2nd June) and the aforementioned Queen's Green Canopy.
