Marking the Platinum Jubilee Celebration through Plants
Want a garden fit for the Queen? Who are we to presume... you may well have been planting out your royal landscape for months already ahead of the Jubilee celebrations!
For those with more realistic expectations, we have just the ticket for you:
Tips on how to mark the celebration of 70 years on the throne this year, through plants.
CREATING THE SETTING
You may not have plane trees, pools of cascading water, busy beehives, and acres of lawn, but there are scaled-down versions of royal splendour that would still be fit for a queen that you can create in your own green space.
The ultimate outdoor luxury focal point, royals love a good pavilion. If you have space to spare, consider creating an area that provides shelter and brings the garden inside. Whether using bricks and mortar or fashioning a temporary shaded setup, create a place to unwind and host guests at your very own garden party.
Now is the time to get your water feature in tip-top shape and ready to delight with soothing sights and sounds.
Delphiniums are sure to be found in any royal garden, and we have them ready to deliver to your door. Bring unrivalled height and colour to your summer garden with these showy spikes of vibrant flowers.
Available to order at UCS Fresh Garden:

HANGING BASKET PERFECTION
It's the perfect time to get your hands on our new Speedplanters. This is your solution to hanging basket perfection and highly colourful displays, in just 2-3 weeks!
Each Speedplanter is created using seven premium choice plants with proven garden performance. The compost in the Speedplanter is pre-charged with slow-release fertiliser to give the finished container or basket longevity in the garden.
If you're planning a garden party for this weekend's jubilee celebrations, here are some tips to create a visual feast of flowers:
Fill the table with jam jars of flowers. Think poppies, roses and lilies. Any cheery red, white and blue florals, or regal purple blooms.
Break out the good china for an authentic cuppa with biscuits.
Do enjoy a coronation chicken sandwich, followed by a slab of Victoria sponge and a glass of Pimms.
You might like to go with the official Platinum Jubilee Pudding: a lemon and Swiss roll amaretti trifle.
If you haven't already gone all out with a bunting of flying Union Jacks, pull together any table linens, runners, napkins and place mats that will work with a red, white and blue colour scheme. Bring it all together with dinner candles along the length of your table.
Celebrate the occasion by organising a fun 'bake-off' between family, friends and even neighbours.
PLANT A TREE FOR THE JUBILEE
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Everyone from individuals to Scout and Girl-guiding groups, villages, cities, counties, schools and corporates will be encouraged to play their part to enhance our environment by planting trees during the official planting season between October to March. Tree planting will commence again in October 2022, through to the end of the Jubilee year.
BEYOND THE GARDEN
There are plenty of other ways you can get involved in the 2022 celebrations, including street parties, The Big Jubilee Lunch (5th June), Beacon lighting (2nd June) and the aforementioned Queen's Green Canopy.
Official details can be found at https://platinumjubilee.gov.uk/get-involved-with-the-platinum-jubilee/ and includes a range of useful templates and materials to help you with your Platinum Jubilee celebrations: Buntings, recipe cards, kids’ activity sheets and a celebration playlist.
